Arrival at Kansai International Airport

Kansai International Airport is located in the south-east area of Osaka City, and it's on an artificial island. It opened in 1994, and is one of the largest airports in Japan. In Japanese, Airport means KU-KOH. We often call it KAN-KU in short. So you can see or hear "KAN-KU" everywhere in the airport. KAN-KU welcomes you as a starting point to Kyoto!

After you finish immigration, you go out to the outside. The arrival gates are on the 1st floor of Kansai International Airport Building. There are north and south arrival gates.

Beside the arrival gate doors, there are money exchange counters. In Kyoto, it's hard to find places where you can change money except at larger hotels. So it's better to change money here.

In the center of the 1st floor, there are four information centers. If you have any troubles or concerns before you go to Kyoto, you can ask them. Off course, they can speak English and, support you kindly.

They have usuful information too. If you have time, it'better to visit there!

Near the South Arrival gate, there is a rental cell phone counter, Do Co Mo. If you want to use a cell phone in Japan, you can rent it .

There are two types of cell phones. One is Japanese communication method cell phone(Not SIM type) .The other is the one using your SIM card (W-CDMA).

In front of each arrival gates, you can find screens showing transportations schedule to Kyoto (train and bus). Please check and select your preferable way.
